Our first AviaCert workation recently came to an end. What began as an idea from our Managing Director Hendrik Schorcht to celebrate the company's tenth anniversary in style has taken shape over the past few months. Finally, at the end of June 2024, our team made its way to the Baltic Sea, more precisely to the beautiful island of Hiddensee, to spend four days working together on the vision of our company.
After a relaxed arrival and settling into our rooms, we spent the first evening exploring the island and enjoying the beach. We rounded off the day with dinner together in the Wieseneck restaurant. A large conference room was available for the next few days and the upcoming workshop. Those who preferred to work outside or on the terrace could enjoy the beautiful summer weather there.
Instead of focusing on daily tasks and projects, this time the focus was on planning for the coming years. Together with Nikolaus Förster, Editor-in-Chief of Impulse Medien GmbH and founder of the Impulse network, we held an inspiring workshop on the topic of "Visioning". As a whole team, we thought about where we currently stand and discussed the directions in which we want to develop as a company and as employees. This process was exhausting for everyone involved, but it also helped us to identify even better with the company and its goals and values. And our results are impressive and will accompany us every day for the next five years!
In addition to the intensive workshop, the days on the island also offered space for leisure activities and team building. Some of us went windsurfing or kayaking, while others enjoyed the weather on the boat or simply relaxed on the beach. In the evening, we met up for dinner together and rounded off the days with a glass of wine.
All in all, our first "workation" was not only a welcome change from everyday office life, but also a unique opportunity to get to know each other as a team in a new way and grow closer together. Weeks later, we still agree that this week was something very special and strengthened our team spirit.
Only one question remains unanswered: Where will we go next time, dear Hendrik?
